Why does the world need another math curriculum?
There are hundreds of math curriculums available, many that offer solid math content to learners. Math curriculum, though, has never been what’s kept the U.S. from being more successful with math learning. The problem has been the quality of the instruction. Math teachers are dedicated professionals who work at a difficult job. Often, though, they do not have the instructional skills required to reach every student.
Inclusive Learning is the outgrowth of inspired and high-impact professional learning done by All Learners Network (ALN). ALN has changed math teaching, and the lives of students, in schools across the country. They work to improve equity of opportunity for students through math learning, school by school, district by district.
At a certain point we realized that the way to reach more teachers was through curriculum. We acknowledged, though, that there is always the potential for curriculum to be used poorly, despite the best intentions of its designers. We took the problem on:
How can curriculum be used to improve the way teachers teach math?
The result of that inquiry is the Universal Math Curriculum, and the Math Insights Assessment System.
We are building on the thousands of resources available through All Learners Online to create a comprehensive math curriculum that supports teachers to engage in professional learning before teaching content, makes use of formative assessment focused on student understanding, and provides AI support to make better instructional choices. Teaching the Universal Math Curriculum improves teacher skill and student outcomes.
While the resources from All Learners Online are available now, free field-testing versions of Universal Math will be available in the fall of 2025. Full versions will be on sale beginning in the spring of 2026.
